70.3 Pays d’Aix Race Report

May 10, 2016

Aix en Provence, France A late race report but honestly, it takes me some time to reflect. This was my third time doing this course. 70.3 Aix is an interesting race as we start at a lake north of the city, the bike park is set up next to the lake so once out of … More 70.3 Pays d’Aix Race Report

Training in a heat wave...I hate it when that happensπŸ˜• But I had a nice one out there. It's good "heat training" if that's what you want to call it. πŸ˜‰This week will be cooler starting tomorrow and I can't wait. Wherever you are in the world, always find the hills!πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’₯πŸ’₯😎
Another day, another vineyard. Getting in the kilometers here in wine country in Libourne (near Bordeaux) aside from vineyards you'll find a lot of medieval churches. Even though I'm not near the mountains, I can still prepare for the climbs by staying on the big ring and sprinting on the short but steep little climbs. I hope it will be enough when I hit the PyreneesπŸ™πŸΎ Probably not but I'm good at sufferingπŸ˜‰
So I'm in serious wine country here in France near St. Emillion and even still I must prepare for the @haute_route in the Pyrenees coming up in 3 weeks. The challenge: NO Mountains!☹️ However I have found little climbs. So that translates into...hill repeats!πŸ˜ƒ If you aren't close to the mountains, hill repeats are the second best way to prepare for climbing in the mountains. To find out whether it works or not, you'll have to stay tuned!πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’₯πŸ’₯😎
The climbing began last week as I prepare for the @haute_route beginning July in the Pyrenees 😁 Although currently my dragon 🚲 is at the bike shop getting a tune up and finally a new cassette. Got to be ready for the mountain! Stay tuned because this week is going to hurtπŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’₯πŸ’₯😎
I've had some great runs outside of Bordeaux here in wine country. I'm not far from St. Emillion so stay tuned for more bike pics amongst the vineyards.πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ·πŸ·πŸ‘ŠπŸ½πŸ’₯
Out on the bike with cooler weather! Life is beautiful😎 again. I'm now near St Emillion, the great wine country but no real climbing. It wouldn't be a problem but I've got to get ready for the Pyrenees in a little more than a month. I'll find a solution for the lack of mountains and get back to you. Stay tuned for more pics.πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’ͺ🏽😎
These days I always have a little running buddy to keep me company on the trails. 🐢🐢 It's gotten to the point now that it's no longer as much fun to run by myselfπŸ˜• Who else here swears by running with their dogs?πŸ˜ŽπŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½ Stay tuned for bike adventure amongst the vineyards near BordeauxπŸ·πŸ·πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š
Back at it baby!!πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’₯πŸ’₯ I've managed to find a few little hills for climbing. It hurt!πŸ˜“ But it's all good. Little by little I'll get back there.πŸ™πŸΎ Stay tunedπŸ‘ŠπŸ½πŸ‘ŠπŸ½πŸ˜Ž
I really love running near lakes. It always has a calming effect. From now on its going to be a whole lot of cycling gearing up to the entire summer in the Pyrenees.😯 I've got a lot of fucking work to doπŸ˜•πŸ˜ŽπŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’ͺ🏽πŸ’₯πŸ’₯ Stay tunedπŸ˜ƒ
